Guard the tongue
Guard the tongue
Guard...guard...guard the tongue..
What kind of tongue is that...
There are thirty-two
guardians to guard the tongue... Isn't that enough?
How many more guards should be put in place to guard it?
No matter what you don't guard,
at least you should guard your tongue.
If you don't guard it,
you will end up using the wrong words and
suffering.
In a village, a donkey
and a fox used to be friends.
The donkey would carry the pack all day long.
When night came, he would go into the cucumber garden with his friend the fox and steal the cucumbers.
One night, while he was out stealing, the donkey kept boasting to the fox about himself.
"I can sing well...I don't know..."
Said the donkey.
"It would be cruel if you opened your mouth.
Are you going to sing?"
The fox teased.
"I can sing well...you don't know...
Please..."
The donkey begged again and again.
"Even if a thief sneezes,
he shouldn't sneeze...don't you know?"
"I know...a thief shouldn't sleep, I know that too."
Said the donkey.
"How dare you sing... sing after knowing everything?" said the fox.
"I'll ask you once...."
The donkey, who was obsessed with singing, insisted on singing somehow.
"Okay, sing... why did I spoil your wish? I'll see if the guard is coming. First, you pick the cucumbers and come back. Come out and sing."
The fox gave the donkey permission to sing.
The donkey went into the field and picked cucumbers to fill his stomach.
When his stomach was full, he felt like singing.
The donkey stood in the field and shouted loudly.
Hearing the donkey's noise, the guard ran and beat the donkey.
The donkey ran outside and looked for its friend.
The friend was not there.
The donkey staggered home with sadness.
Only then did the donkey understand that it should not open its mouth everywhere.
How many times have we been humiliated after talking about what we saw and heard?
A frog in the ground does not lie idle.
Since it is always screaming in the ground,
its enemies will easily find the frog's place and swallow it.
The frog's mouth showed its location to its enemies.
In Turkey, there is a species of stork called Taras, which has a sweet voice.
Their voice can be heard from a long distance.
Upon hearing their voice, a hawk will come from somewhere and peck it away.Realizing that their own voice was a danger to them,
the storks thought about what to do.
The problem is making a sound.
If you put pebbles in your mouth before flying...
you won't be able to open your mouth!
So, while flying, they put pebbles in their mouths and start flying.
Even if the storks have the urge to raise their voices, they cannot open their mouths.
Taras storks use this technique to protect themselves during their travels. This way, the storks' lives are protected from enemies.
It is not just storks.
Many times we also need this control.
"He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps his soul from prying eyes," the Bible says.
We should think before we speak.
We should not say everything that is on our minds.
If there is one thing that deserves to be imprisoned for a long time, it is the tongue.
Let us guard our tongues.
Let us be wise like the birds of prey.
Let us not allow ourselves to be imprisoned by others.
