அடக்கம் அமரருள் உய்க்கும்

    " அடக்கம் அமரருள் உய்க்கும் அடங்காமை

     ஆரிருள் உய்த்து விடும் "

    அடக்கம் ஒருவனை உயர்த்தி என்றென்றும் அழியாத உயர்ந்த தேவருலகை அடைந்திடச் செய்யும்.

    அடங்காமை பாவமாகிய இருளில் கொண்டு சேர்த்துவிடும்.

  English couplet :

    " Control of  self does man conduct to bliss th'immortals share

     Indulgence leads to deepest night  and leaves him there "

Explanation :

   Self control will place a man among the Gods; the want of it will drive him into the thickest darkness of hell.

    Transliteration :
